Purpose of the United Methodist Women
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God, and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative supportive fellowship and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
Welcome to United Methodist Women
Membership in the United Methodist Women (UMW) is open to any women who supports the PURPOSE and indicates a desire to be included. She need not be a member of the United Methodist Church, and a member of the church is not automatically a member of the UMW. There is no age limit; some local units have Circles for teenage girls. Most members make an annual pledge of financial support for the unit’s mission projects, but this is not a condition of membership. We also hold two fundraisers each year.
The UMW of Jefferson City First United Methodist Church meets as a general unit on the second Thursday of February, May, September and December. We have one circle which is held on months when we do not have a unit meeting. Our circle meeting is held at noon where we enjoy lunch and fellowship with one another.
Our members volunteer with mission projects such as: Appalachian Outreach, Second Source Thrift Store, HABIT, Jefferson Memorial Hospital and the local School Backpack Program.
Anyone who wishes to be part of a small group is encouraged to join the UMW. Please contact any member of the UMW for more information.
