How Do I Meet People?

Whether you are a five-year old child, a ninety-five year old grandmother, a busy mom, or a businessperson with big responsibilities, we want you to be a part of our vibrant church community. Here is how you can learn, serve, and grow at First Church. Below are listed anchor opportunities; explore other opportunities to connect within this section of the website.

Small Group

Often, small groups of people are better able to interact and learn about a topic than larger groups are. For that reason, First Church has small bible studies held in various locations. The size of the group is anywhere from four to twelve. At the time designated by your group, you can participate in the small group study.

Children’s Ministry

Each Sunday morning, children may participate in their own classes. Bible lessons are taught in such a way that every child gets to participate and learn. Each of the class teachers is carefully screened and thoroughly trained in children’s instruction.  During the 10 a.m. worship hour, the Children’s Ministry offers a separate worship.   The children participate in early rituals of worship with their families in the sanctuary and move to their own service for a message geared specifically for kids.   And Wednesday evenings offer additional opportunities for music and learning during the Prime-Time-Wednesday Jesus And Me program.   The Children’s ministry of First Church is recognized for their close interaction.

Youth Ministry

An active youth ministry program is open for students in grades 6 through 12. Sunday morning studies, Sunday and Wednesday evening UMYF meetings highlight the organized gatherings. The youth may be found reaching out in mission, leading worship, studying, or just simply kicking back in fellowship.

Young Adults

Life can get complicated once you cross that nebulous threshold into adulthood. There are complicated decisions. Bigger stakes. Serious relationships. And a whole lot more decisions. First Church provides a welcoming atmosphere for college and early-career aged young people.

Women’s Group

United Methodist Women (UMW) gives the ladies in our church family special times of interaction. Our UMW has several circles and outreach program and find times of Bible study, prayer (and, of course, food). These groups provide a refreshing discipleship opportunity for the women in the church.

Men’s Group

United Methodist Men’s group (UMM) is an active body of adults. Typically meeting for breakfast one Saturday monthly and continuing into hands-on ministries such as building a ramp for a community member with limited mobility or maintenance on the church property, the men of FUMC are wonderful disciples

Keenagers

Once you get past fifty, the fun has just begun. Whether retired, just plain tired, or active as ever, the Keenagers are open to any senior in the community and provides refreshment, ministry, and times of valuable interaction. Business meetings are typically held the third Thursday of each month and outings are on alternate months.
