Throughout the year, families at First United Methodist come together for fun, food, and fellowship.
How many hot dogs can you eat? How far can you spit a watermelon seed? How long can you sit in the icy river water? Summer break can be long and boring for both parent and kid. At First United Methodist Church, we have created SUMMER DISCOVERY DAYS. These days provided opportunities for the children and their families to discovery the greatness of God and build stronger relationships with our church family. Summer Discovery Days have included a water day, families at the pool, and fun at the river.
Every October, the children of First United Methodist Church invite the community to TRUNKS FOR TREATS. This free event, a safer alternative to door-to-door trick or treating, offers: games, crafts, horse rides, story time, face painting, and musical performances by the church’s praise band. And of course you do not leave without a bucket full of candy. Look for this event to come the last Sunday in October. Every summer First United Methodist shares the word of God through a joyful week of Vacation Bible School. This free event is held in the evenings and is open to children entering 1st – 5th grades. Children experience God’s glory and greatness through: music, movie, drama, crafts, games, and story sharing. Every evening your children are fed a balanced meal, will bring home items they created, and fill your home with praising tunes of worship. Transportation is provided. If you need transportation or additional information, please call Wendy at 865-475-2827. Children at First United Methodist are welcome to be part of worship. We sing, ring handbells, and participate in the worship experience. Here children are sharing in the joyous occasion of Palm Sunday. Sunday Mornings for Children at First United Methodist Church

In early October, we visited a local farm. All enjoyed a wagon ride to a pumpkin patch, got lost in a corn maze, feed the farm animals, and bobbed for apples.
