Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
~~ Matthew 25:34-36
At First Church we seek opportunities to serve our neighbors; our neighbors in Jefferson City and our neighbors around the globe.   We have a variety of mission and outreach opportunities.   Take a look at ways in which you can become involved.  We invite you to plug in!
Our summer hands-on mission project is to provide and assemble food buckets that will be sent to our sisters and brothers in Liberia for distribution.

AO is a covenant ministry partner with First Church.   It serves the local community in many ways, including a home repair ministry, a shelter and ministry center for families in need, a food pantry, a clothing (and household goods) ministry, a computer ministry, among others.   The brothers and sisters in the First Church family work alongside others in all areas of Appalachian Outreach.   If you’d like to plug into this dynamic outreach, contact the missions coordinator:

The Rescue MinistriesThe Rescue Ministries is an international covenant ministry partner with First Church.   It seeks to rescue abandoned and orphaned children in the Philippines and operates Banhaw home for youth in Liloan on the island of Cebu.   In addition to prayers and funds for the ministry efforts, you can find folks in the mission field in the Philippines once or twice a year.   To find out more or to plug into this ministry, contact the missions coordinator

Access Life Expos — An opportunity to serve God each summer by actively supporting an Access Life Expo in East Tennessee.  These four-hour free community outreach events provide a time of Christ-centered encouragement, support, and fun to individuals and families living with disabilities.  This mission opportunity provides a time to connect and is supported financially and with fun-loving volunteers who assist in the massive set-up, tear-down, and interaction with the participants.

Textile Arts — when someone is in need of comfort and a reminder of God’s presence around them, the Knit Wits are ready to offer hand-made prayer shawls.   This opportunity is especially good for people with knitting, crocheting, or sewing gifts to offer.    If quilting is your gift–or if you’d like to help cover a veteran with stitches of love, Quilts of Valor may be your offering.  To find out more or to plug into this ministry, contact the missions coordinator.

Financial support opportunities:  Sometimes plugging in with time is a challenge.   The opportunity to support missions financially is a viable alternative and/or supplement for being involved.   Financial gifts left in the offering plate can be designated for support of any ministry, including mission partners:
